As a primary designer of a remote office, I handled and lead most of the design work for local clients to the greater Harrisburg area as well as assisting the other offices in the company. I was brought on as a sole person in the office at the beginning and helped shape the culture, inner workings, and process of our office. This gave me experience in honing process, setting standards, and guiding projects from a design perspective. I also spent time client facing with Project Managers, Design Strategists, Project Coordinators, and other members of our team.
Within Maga Design I was exposed to design thinking and strategy, direct client interactions, various design specialties, 3D printing and the general maker space world, VR and 3D modeling, UI/UX and interactive design, as well as traditional design and printing for a client. Most of my time was spent in print design, however I often was enabled to expand my horizons and improve my current skillset as a designer.
Over the years I've worked with music acts like Vulcans, the Philadelphia Songwriters Project, Them Animals, Saint Brendan & The Navigators creating a variety of print projects including: album art, packaging, stickers, posters, banners, logos, and pins. I've also worked on smaller projects with Arcade Lancaster and Middle State Coffee.
Within AIGA Central PA, my main role was to manage outward-facing communications including various social media platforms, email marketing via Mailchimp, and Wordpress management. I also aided the other chairs from time to time, mostly programming events as well as creating some graphics for the organization—external and internal. We worked closely as a small team to create meaningful events and initiatives in design for the greater Central PA area.
With RODA Marketing, I worked on contract as a Freelance Designer working directly with their team as well as other freelancers to complete client requests. I created infographics, posters, website banners, and other web content for their local set of clients.
At Inovāt, I was hired as an intern to assist a small design team with various tasks including website mockups, email banners, assisting in site markup, and smaller print projects. I was also exposed to an array of tools and techniques to connect and work with with clients and other members of the team. Towards the end of my internship I was tasked with creating a new blog for their site, which parts were adapted by the Creative Director that went into final production.
In this position, I was responsible for printing, troubleshooting, and helping design students with their files. I learned a great deal about printing standards and how to effectively produce a final piece in the printer's eyes. This included how to troubleshoot common problems with various types of paper and ink types. Also assisted in rallying students to common causes for the major at large.
